A South Korean professor built an autonomous vehicle and test-drove it across the country in the 1990s. Han Min-hong came up with his invention years before self-driving cars became a multibillion-dollar industry. His vehicle drove itself 300km (186 miles) all the way from Seoul to the southern port of Busan in 1995. But the project was scrapped as South Korea turned its efforts to developing its heavy industries.

  • In 1994 they did something similar in Germany and in 1995 they let that thing drive from Munich, Germany up to Copenhagen, Denmark, which is 1700km. Highway driving is pretty easy, though (for humans as well as autonomous cars). So it's cool they were able to do that kinda stuff but I doubt that with the technology of the time it would've ever been possible to achieve a car self-driving in a busy city center. That's just so much more complex, maybe even like 10 times more. Not trying to take away from the achievements of this professor or the German military, though. It's still pretty amazing what they did there.

  • This wasn't implemented because Big Tech wasn't ready to move on from oil/gas. The industry made so much money, they'd be crazy not to keep using it to make profit. Now with the global warming and climate change facade, it's the perfect time to get away from the oil/gas, and move electric. Now it's the right time to move humanity "forward". Do we see how the game is played? 30 year old ancient technology dusted off and refined to create a new product when they say so. What else are they hiding? Where's Nikola Teslas free energy technology? Who has the patents? The US does, just like they create wars for Israels sake and plunder the countries oil and gold reserves. This is just the beginning to the corruption, not even scratched the surface. And mind you, it gets way more disturbing and horrific. The meat at McDonalds is not always from animals. Unless you call homosapiens animals. The red shoes have to come from somewhere.

  • People make inventions like this all the time but get silenced or killed off. Fun fact: Free energy was created more the 100 years ago. There is actually no need for gas, electricity, petrol or oil. Electric cars were invented before petrol cars but the government scrapped the idea of a electric car because they couldn’t charge extortion prices

  • This needs to be a whole documentary not just two minutes. Does anyone know how this car was able to stop at the traffic lights itself and recognise signs etc? Could this car drive multiple routes? I am amazed they were allowed to drive this car on public roads. Elon should meet with him if he wasn’t already aware of him. This is strange looking on Google he is only mentioned a few days ago but looking on Wiki there were a number of self driving projects from the 1980s.
